Smart Runners Run Smarty

Posted by Clay Nichols on

SmartyPants in Salt Lake Pounding down a steep and winding road in the Wasach Mountains in the company of several thousand fellow runners, I thought to myself: Running in a race is kind of a SmartyPants thing to do. Marathons, half-marathons, 10Ks, 5Ks, color runs, walks and triathlons -- lots of SmartyPantses across the country are getting together as a community to celebrate health and individual potential. How awesome is that? We want in. That's why there's a good chance that you'll see us at your next race handing out gummies at the expo, or in your goodie bag, or cheering you on at the finish. Maybe even running along side you. In past few weeks alone we participated in races in Lincoln, Nebraska, St. Louis, and Tempe. We spent two great days in Salt Lake City passing out samples to runners and their families (lots of awesome kids) at the home of the Utah Jazz. Picking up your race number is always an exciting moment, and we could feel the buzz in the air at the expo.SLC Marathon Then on race day, I joined the field of 7000 runners for one of my favorite races to date. I  loved the scenic half marathon course which started on the lovely University of Utah campus, wound down steep foothills described above (lots of downhill on this course), then through the broad boulevards of Salt Lake. The crowd support was great. This race clearly deserves its reputation as one of the best in the country. After I was done, I headed back to the finish to cheer other runners, but so many finishers still had their headphones on. Pro tip: Hey, runners, kill the tunes in the last half mile and enjoy the crowd! Also, the finish festival had beer! Who knew? And that was just the beginning of our race participation marathon. We are currently scheduled to sponsor over 20 more races this year, with new events being added all the time. We will be at three races this weekend alone (Best of luck to all the participants in the Chicago Spring Half Marathon, The Esprit De She Duathlon in Lakeville, MN, and the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon). #RunSmarty We think a finisher’s medal just isn’t enough. We want to fuel your next run with our delicious gummy vitamins. So we are giving away a bottle of SmartyPants to one lucky runner every month. To be entered, all you have to do is snap a pic with your SmartyPants sample pack somewhere on the course from start to finish, and post it on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #RunSmarty to be entered. We sincerely look forward to seeing you out there on the course. Run Smarty!
